Warid Telecommunications (Pakistan), backed by the Abu Dhabi Group – one of the largest financial groups in the Middle East and the largest single foreign investor group in Pakistan – began its services in May 2005. Warid Pakistan states that it attracted over 1 million users within 80 days of launching its service. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Warid Telecom currently has more than 10 million subscribers in Pakistan and ranks as the fourth largest operator. Warid Telecom’s vision is “To be the leading national communications provider, with a strong international presence.”
In June 2007, Pyramid Automation was responsible for providing emergency standby power for the company’s main switching centre: 3 x Perkins 325Kva sets equipped with Leroy Somer governors and AVRs were supplied, and 3 x DSE5510 for automatic starting and synchronisation, together with a DSE5560 for mains monitoring and control, were installed in the control panel. The system also provides soft transfer and seamless return.
The system is now in operation, and Warid Telecom is extremely satisfied with this outstanding performance. The images below show the installation of the new control panels.
